Morro Bay State Beach Restoration

Restoration of 4 miles of dunes on a sandspit in Morro Bay, CA with stabilizing straw bales and invasive iceplant removal.

Approximately 275 bales of weed free straw were added to stabilize large dune blowouts that were threatening sensitive plant species and over 140 acres of invasive iceplants were treated on the Preserve.

Additionally, District Natural Resource (NR) staff has conducted multiple spot treatments of iceplant resprouts and broadcast seeding of local harvested native dune species in iceplant treatment areas.
